Default Never thought I had to check this

so today leaving work i wanted to show off a little to the fellas in the shop (we all get off at 3) so i romp the hell out of it leaving the p-lot.. i must have hooked up really well ... b/c all of a sudden i headr a enormous THUD .. like it was thundering out... got it to my shop and was checking it out.. had to have my uncle in get in it.. with me laying under neath the truck and have him romp on it to see what was going on (i know not safe but i didnt have any other way to investigate) .. and come to find out.. my tranny mount sepereated itself .. the rubber tore in half.. so the loud thud i was hearing was the t-case tailshaft housing tourqing up and slaming into the bed/body... left a few nice dents (cant see them tho from b/c of the carpet)

new tranny mount 36$ from nappa

bout 2 hrs to install (rusty bolts/and skid plate )

truck accelerates alot better.. (rubber is much tighter)

just letting yall know .. maybe next time you change oil.. take a quick peek and see what condition yours is in.

Yeah, check the motor mounts too. Lucky it wasn't more serious!

Shott I don't suppose you took any pictures of that do you? I'm gonna get under my truck this weekend and have a look at things just to make sure everythings ok and I'm still not 100 % sure what I'm looking at under there.

There's a cross member that the transmission sits on top of. Between the transmission and cross member there should be a thick hunk of rubber. It's all held in place by two bolts. Several years back I had my tranny rebuilt and I think they forgot to put them back in. I had wheeled my truck for a couple years before I ever noticed they were not there. I doubt I broke them cause there wasn't even half a bolt in there.
