Default I need a hotter coil & Ignition

I have a 98 1500 4X4 Sport 5.9l ( see sig for additional info). I have been hearing about Mallory making a hotter coil and ignition for my truck. Does this exist and if it does where do I get them? Part no's?
Also while I have your attention, what's the brand of free flowing cat that everyone uses on this site? Magna flow??????? Where do I get this larger throttle body from? Intake M-1? Ok I promise that's all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Why do you need a hotter coil?

For better HP, Torque, and fuel economy. I tried the Accel brand on my 97 Wrangler Sport with the 4.0 and I didn't see any gains with that brand.

I put a MSD coil on mine, It sure looks purdy, but I can't say it changed much as far as power. Maybe my plugs last longer...maybe.

The three best mods I did (so far)that made a "feel it in the a$$ dyno difference" were the catback duals, putting a bigger element on my FIPK, and blueprinting and polishing my TBI.

You're lucky. Alot of guys see losses from the Accel coils in that the motor won't start any more. There is a recall on them. Depending on when you bought it and the part#, you may be able to get your money back. The newreplacement is supposed to be reliable.Stock ignition is more thangood for the stock heads with the stock cam and stock injectors. The new (and old) Accel coils are rated at 42k. That's pretty good for an oem type bolt on coil. The MSD box will help out withepa tests if you're cat is gutted. MSD 8228 (stock type replacement)is rated slightly above the stock coil voltage @ 35k, but the output is probably more reliable than the stock pseudo asian/mexican version if in fact they are actually made by MSD. The Blaster series are rated @ 45k. I have been running a Blaster coil for 1.5 months with no ballast resistor and have had no codes.

I just remebered something that I was looking into a few weeks ago. Although a hotter ignition will not do squat unless you need it, if you are running the MSD box there are several products that will. I have seen alot of posts here about being able to control ignition timing. If you are running a 6 series box, MSD has a few options in the way of piggy back ignition timing controllers that will allow you to do this now. One is just a dial controller that allows you to advance timing, and there were two more IIRC that will allow you to program timing for different rpm's.

Summit sells the box(s) and coil(s). I ran a magnaflow that nowruns alot better gutted. M1 is the only option at this point if you want to go fast above 4k rpm's.
