you could replace the fancy factory hose with 3/8" auto trans hose and clamps. if i remember right the lower hose is the hot line, and it has a crimped fitting on one end and quick connect on the other. when i added a transmission cooler i just cut all that stuff off and used hose. a dremel tool works good to cut the crimp apart and a tubing cutter will cut the metal line. trans hose is about $1 per foot.

I had the same problem with 2 different Dakotas. Of course I only needed the 10" long hose part but had to order the entireassembly with hardline back to the trans. I paid around $80. It sure was an easy fix with the right parts.

You can use 3/8" hose barb fittings for extra assurance that the clamps won't come off.

If its just a hole in the line, go to the hardware or home center and get a flare fitting for each side of the tube and repair it right. Solid connections and won't leak unless you do it wrong. Or you could do the same with a compression fitting on each side.
