Default Donor truck

Im beganing my collection of parts I need for the t56 swap. The big bill I need to foot is a 5spd donor truck. Does anyone have, or know where I can get a 5spd wrecked or nr donor truck? Iv exhausted every junkyard within 40 miles of my house, and its hard to come up with a tailgate let alone a 5spd whole truck.

Apparently the 5spd is thicker than the t56 so ill need to weld a spacer for the tranny mount. (Im having my trans guy do the work, hes done one before and said the best way was to just get a donor truck, after that its pritty simple for him)

all u really need is the shifter boot the pedal set wiring and a computer for a stick. the little thing in the cluster that tells what gear ur in it pulls out easy and u just need to put a blank in. a steering collum ,a flywheel and the crank sensor from a stick mabe a starter dont know if they are diff that should be about it

I heard that the two are very similar because all bodies had the ability to be 5spds from the factory. You just may save me a load of trouble here. I remember hearing that the tunnel is the same for the 5spd and the auto? Any truth behind that? That, and the pedals, would be the main reason behind the donor truck. As far as the steering collum, whats the diffrence btwn the auto and the stick, aside from the linkage for the auto shifter?

well the tunnels are the same i 99% sure i dont think they made them diffrent at all just have to cut a hole where the shifter goes and all u really need on the steering collum is the peice of plastic that the auto shifter is in on mine theres a blank that u can tell get punched out for the auto shifter and then a stick computer and wiring should be all u need and the pedals i not postive but i think u can add the pedal to urs by just swaping the brake pedal and putting a clutch peadl on it not sure about that

I heard there is just a rubber stop where the hole for the stick goes on auto trucks?

Now as far as the computer goes, what are the critical mesurements that the stick computer takes? Basicly, Will the 6spd be incompatible with the computer?

i think u just will need a stick computer or who knows it might run with the auto computer but as far as i know the stick computer dosnt take any measurements fromt the trans i mean the only wires that connect to my trans are the back up lights and a speed sensor

I think mine is run off a gear drive instead of an gear>electric signal drive. I dont have digital odo/trip odo. I guess it will all become clear when it gets done.
