98 RAM A/C replacement
A/C finally crapped out and while replacing the compressor/clutch, I thought I would clean out the lines and replace the orifice tube. How the #*&$ do you take off the High Pressure line??? SOB doesn't unscrew and a hammer was unconvincing. Isn't the orifice tube in the condensor end of the high pressure line?
Any suggestions? Thanks in advance,
Stuart

You need a tool that is designed for removal like this...

The O tube is located in either of 2 places. Not sure when Dodge switched locations, but, the old location was where the liquid line came out of the condenser. Then they moved it to the middle of the liquid line and if thats what you have you must replace the whole liquid line; the O tube is NOT replaceable by itself. You can tell if you have the latter setup if you still have the factory original liquid line because there is a dimpled area midway along the right fender and immediately followed by a foil covered layer of insulation going along the fender. However, the factory replacement for the liquid line has no insulation, just the dimpled/indented joint where the O tube is located. If you don't have that setup then the O tube is out front by the condenser. Either way don't hammer on any connections. You will need a snap-lock tool(s) to open the joints. If your system is presently discharged, I would start looking there unless you have the above described liquid line (I don't think that year did though). If you have already purchased the O tube for that year then disregard the above; the O tube is in the condenser location.
A tube is not listed for the other setup.
