Default 01 Ram 1500 Steering....

Hello all .. been a while since i posted.. but i used to have a 99 didge ram 1500 2wd.. loved it.. traded it in for an 01 1500.. has around 5 inch lift.. 35 inch tires.. when i got the truck.. there was alot of play in the steering.. i mean alot.. i ordered a new gear box.. i have been trying like hell to get it changed out.. got a ball joint seperator to get the steering box off of the control arm.. and no matter how hard i beat this thing.. it will NOT budge.. any ideas? i dont wanna try to use a floor jack in fear of bending something.. any help would be great.. also.. i mentioned this in the past.. about my auto trans. not shifting quite right.. and im sure it has the 3.55 gears int he rear end.. whats the BEST and CHEAPEST way to regear.. and what would be the best to go with.. thanks a bunch!

Are you talking about the pitman arm? If so put a puller on it tighten and hit the arm with a hammer, and tighten the puller again and hit again until breaks loose.

not sure the name of the part.. im good at fixin stuff.. bad on names.. but to explain... you have the steering gearbox mounted to the frame.. the theres an arm that is bolted to the gearbox... then bolted to the rod to make the steering turn... it has what appears to be a ball joint right there.. where it connects.. the new gearbox i got from salvage yard already had the arm coming off of the gearbox.. so i would like to just change the whole mess.. but i cant get it off of the steering rod..

wow.. guess the jokes on me.. good grief.. the place i got the gear box from .. came with the pitman arm.. im thinking yea.. great.. make it a little easier.. helllll no.. now i gotta swap pitman arms.. the one they got the gear box off of was a 2wd ... not 4.. gear box is the same.. pitman arm isnt.. so now i have to do double work and take off BOTH pitman arms.. and put the good one back on the new gear box.. what a pain in the neck.. glad i got a pitman arm puller..
