HI ALL..Need help with ABS prob. 94 ram 1500
HI; Glad to be able to join this group. Today I have a ABS prob light on dash and my ABS is not working. Im sure I am ruining my brake linings without ABS.
I had my brakes serviced recently (due to leaky line) and the mech suggested I take it back for the ABS prob. The light was on before I took it in.
Anyways, I pulled and reseated the connectors that I thought were involved, 1 on differential and 1 one the brake booster under the hood.
Is this a DIY fix or should a mech be looking at it. Any help would be appreciated..
Thanks
Keith

NORMALLY in my experience with abs.. it is a sensor behind one of the wheels.. its hard to figure out what one it is w/o a computer to tell you.. what i would do in your situation is this.. take off one sensor at a time.. normally its held on by one 10mm bolt and inspect it.. i had one on my jeep that the balljoints were shot..and whenever i turned sharp.. it would rub the sensor.. due to the play in the ball joints.. another thing you can do.. is unplug the abs computer make sure the connection is clean.. and plug it back in.. now you mentioned you had a leaky line.. it might be something as simple as needing to bleed the brakes.. remember if your brake system detects ANY errors.. your abs will disable.. even low brake fluid will do it.. good luck.
The ABS unit needs to be bled. You probbly have air trapped in the valving. There is a procedure for rear wheel ABS and 4 wheel ABS.
