Default Battery issues!!!

My 2001 ram 1500 has been giving me problems for about the last three weeks. It started out with the battery going dead after not driving it one whole weekend. I came out to my truck Monday morning to go to work and it wouldn't start. I finally got a jump and had to baby the idle for about a half hour so that the computer could relearn it. That worked fine. I got to work and worked my shift. I came back out from work and it started just fine. Then it was good until the next weekend. And it did it again. So I had to get another jump and it worked just fine. After work that day it wouldn't start. So I got a jump and took it over to Les Schwab to get the battery checked. They said it was OK and that it needed to terminals to be cleaned. They cleaned them for me and I really cleaned them good at home. Anyhow the next day again and so on...I finally went to Walmart and got a new battery for it and now it is not starting! I just jumped it off of my wifes Tahoe and am letting it run a bit to charge. Do any of you have any ideas as to what could be causing the battery to die like that???

Any help is greatly appreciated!!!

Don

Check the glove box light. Make sure it does not remain on.

Thanks for the response DieselDemon, I went out to my truck to check and realized that the under-hood light was on. is there some sort of sensor for that, that may have gone bad? if so, where is it?

I'm not super familiar with the 2001s. There is a manual for download in the merry Xmas thread.

Until you find the switch, just remove the bulb. Be sure to load the inside of the sockets with dielectric grease. It will prevent the terminals from corroding till you reinstall the bulb.

Afetr you download the manual.....check pages 628 and 629. Those are the underhood lamp pages.

Good luck with your ride.

I had the same problem, I just removed the light and put it inside my cab, pop it in when I need it.
