Default 99 1500 burning oil

Have 108,000 miles on my 99 1500 with the 360 motor. Been burning through nearly 3 quarts of oil between regular oil changes every 3K. I check the quantity every 500 miles to track burn and replenish as necessary. There are no leaks and no blue smoke exceptduring engine start.

It seems the oil consumption is premature for the amount of miles on the engine. Been pretty good about the regular oil changes since I bought the truck new.

Have gone to Castrol 5W 50 synthetic oil in hopes of slowing burn.

Any suggestions out there? Love my truck but concerned this issue is going to lead to an engine rebuild/replacement.

Thanks,
Jaba

That much oil loss has got to be the plenum pan gasket. Do a search for 'plenum' or 'Hughes' and you should get a thesis. There's many, many, many posts on this as it was Dodge's dumbest intake design ever. Don't worry, it's not the engine blown. Good luck.
