so i changed my dist. due to i broke a screw on the cap. after i changed that my check engine light went out due now its firing on all 8cyl. well now the tranny seems tobe not down shifting back to 1st. i did some digging and found a plastic piece next to the dizzy and looks like it broke but what is it and were did go i cant see behind the intake. so i took the piece off the hose and left the hose open so now it seems to be shifting ok?!@#! but now my check engine light is back on.
my ram is a 98 2500 4x4 auto. 360 100,000 miles on it.
can i hook this hose up to the intake there is a rubber cap on the intake that could be taken off.

 

Did you set the dist sink with a DRB3 or turn until it ran good? Pull the codes out and post it.

 

I turned it till it ran good. after i did the dizzy wires plugs cap rotor it ran great and no engine light.
