what do you guys haul?
thanks for all the input everyone, looks like what I was thinking is about right, 6000lbs is doable but not optimum. I think I'm going for a mainifold back exhaust, airbag overloads in the back...and now, probably a bigger tranny cooler, the stock one is tiny! I've been looking for an excuse to get an exhaust, ha, ha.
Dirt, lumber, engine blocks and other parts, furniture, my sons' stuff for college, camping gear, firewood, rocks, beer, junk (trash), appliances, miscellaneous... that's what I haul.
I occasionally pull a small trailer with aluminum cans for recycling, and tow broken-down cars home to work on them.
Nothing spectacular. It gets the job done.

Used to pull a 22 Foot mako (5200 lbs) no issues, LO OD, 2800 RPM at 65 MPH 265/75/16 tires 10 MPG. Pull Whaler 17 now (1800 lbs) ......in OD. 15 MPG Piece of cake.

I tow a 30 ft travel trailer with my 1998 ram 1500 2wd, it weights close to 7000 lb loaded, I have no problems until it comes to hills, I have not done any mods on it yet but plan on changing the exhaust, throttle body and air intake you should have no problems with a 22-24 ft trailer
My Truck yanks our 26ft travel trailer (5800 lbs empty or 7400 loaded) down the highway without a problem. I usually have my 4-wheeler loaded in the back too when we camp. (see pic in my gallery).
Pulling the whole rig down the Interstate at 75 mph is never an issue!
