Default Air Filter Replacement

OK, I'm a complete and total NOOB to Dodge Trucks. I'll admit that.

Anyways, I've got an '01 Ram 1500 with the 318. The air filter is filthy. I need to replace it. However, I can't figure out how to get the old one out! [&:] I tried unlocking the three clips on the front of the air box, but I couldn't lift the lid. Then, I loosened the worm gear clamp that held the air box to the throttle body. I could now lift up the lid just enough to see the old dirty filter, but I couldn't get it open enough to remove the old filter.

What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance!

you have to take the filter and everything completly out to open it up all the way. i took mine off plenty of times. and once it even came off completly when i raced someone.

OK, but how do you remove the air box? I loosened the clamp on the throttle body, but the box still wouldn't budge???
