What's questionable to me is, what caused the poor idle? Did the MSD just mask it for now? Could the truck perform better if the problem is fixed?

Yea, I would look at replacing your O2 sensor (the one on the Cat, not the one downstream). That O2 sensor has a lot to do with cold weather performance.

Also the IAC valveis known to get dirty and stick or fail all together.I would clean your IAC as well, as it is the only component your PCM has to control idle.

i dont think it maskedany problems.....atwarm idle in closed loop it was fine if i took it out on the highway and burnt the carbon out just was with cold start ups it didnt want to idle well before the box...i guess the added fuel and the lopy cam?

i just completed my 900 mile trip to Ft. Hood Tx. and no problems what so ever....cold start ups are better than ever and i averaged 15.8 MPGthe whole trip @ 75mph well kinda i made some 100+ mph runs here and there passing ect...and alot of idling time due to traffic/accidents ect... not bad for 320ish rwhp

the o2 sensor is new about 2k miles ago plus i pulled it and cleaned it off everytime i had to clean the plugs......and the iac was just cleaned when i installed my cam and set to 40 steps with scanner when i set my cam sync.....

i like my 6A box alot.. just seems to make the motor run nicer.. idles better.. for me anyway

i think we should have waited schwerm... MSD's patent ran out a while ago on the multi spark system and everyone is not making boxes.. Summit racing just came out with their new line of equivalant products.. they did a side by side comparison (assuming its not biased since summit made the comparasin) and it looks like summits performance should be a bit better then MSD's.. quality is unsure.. but the numbers look good

check out the newest summit catolauge.. should have it in there

sorry for the spelling and grammer mess-ups... working 12 days straight all on 3rd shifts.. im wooped

bed time!
Nice find! good to see someone giving them some competition to bring the prices down....

I also am going to use the new summit box in the 01 1500. It needs a tune-up, but I have never installed an aftermarket ignition box before. Does anyone have a general writeup? I am not too fond of splicing wires, so do they have adapter (I remember somewhere accel had something....) Not too sure, but I have to do what I have to do.

Thanks in advance,
pcfixerpro

btw, I only need the 119 dollar one because there is already a built in rev limiter, right?
They're easy to install. It's only like 5 wires to hook up.
