Default Installed MSD 6A today..

So i broke down and bought the box yesterday from advance auto $173.97 after discount...installed it this morning......

The reason i bought it because during warm up (cold idle) my plugs were fouling and it didn't want to idle to well........had to take it out and burn the carbon off them on the highway a few times and had to pull them twice to clean them to get a smoother idle..............well got sick of it and plus i was going to buy one anyway eventually.

After i installed it i reset the PCM and it fired right up and it was a night and day difference during cold idle a lot smoother....i also noticed my throttle response was a lot better....I'm not sure if it helped me out much after its warmed up (maybe a little) but deff. worth it just by fixing my cold idle/plug fouling episodes that i did have.... thought id share my results.........

very cool. Im always after more throttle responce. (My current throttle responce mod is ductape arround the bump on the throttle linkage to take out the slack in the line.)

MSD systems are sweet. I put an entire MSD system (ignition box, coil, wires, plugs) in my Duster and noticed a huge difference. I'd like to put a similar system in my Ram.

so i installed the ngk ZFR5F11 plugs yesterday (i was bored) in place of my autolite platinum 3923's just to try them out and really no noticeable difference in my motor they both perform pretty damn good...so i guess ill just hold on to the autolites for later on when the stroker motor is done....[/align]

i like my 6A box alot.. just seems to make the motor run nicer.. idles better.. for me anyway

i think we should have waited schwerm... MSD's patent ran out a while ago on the multi spark system and everyone is not making boxes.. Summit racing just came out with their new line of equivalant products.. they did a side by side comparison (assuming its not biased since summit made the comparasin) and it looks like summits performance should be a bit better then MSD's.. quality is unsure.. but the numbers look good

check out the newest summit catolauge.. should have it in there

sorry for the spelling and grammer mess-ups... working 12 days straight all on 3rd shifts.. im wooped

bed time!

Summit usually makes pretty good stuff. I'm thinking of using their ignition equipment in my Ram.

I also am going to use the new summit box in the 01 1500. It needs a tune-up, but I have never installed an aftermarket ignition box before. Does anyone have a general writeup? I am not too fond of splicing wires, so do they have adapter (I remember somewhere accel had something....) Not too sure, but I have to do what I have to do.

Thanks in advance,
pcfixerpro

btw, I only need the 119 dollar one because there is already a built in rev limiter, right?
