I have a '99 2500 4x4 with a 360 motor. The original muffler started gettingholes in it and I replaced it with a Thrush muffler. The Thrushis a straight flow through muffler, basically a piece of straight pipe with a little bit of baffling. I did have to add a small piece of piping to the Thrush to make up for the length of the original muffler and the original tail pipe was re-connected.

Performance does seem a little better, along with a K&N air filter. Mileage is around 12-13 mpg. Truck and motor has 190, 000 miles on it.

It doesn't sound loud or obnoxius, but a low rumble.

It will sound deeper and a little louder for sure. Why not go under and put a Y pipe there and make it into duel? I did that set up and my truck sounds perfect.

It would sound awsome with a straight pipe but you'll prob have trouble with cops!

I've got 2.5" dual exhaust from the cat back with no mufflers on my 318. It isn't as loud as you'd think. Sounds quite nice, IMHO.

i would go duals, but i am looking for something a little different but something that can still be heard. did you guys go to a muffler shop and have them custom bend your pipes or did you get a straight pipe kit off LMC or something? also what did they charge for the duals? thanks

yeah thats what ihave been quoted for straight duals w/tips. just wondering if it would be better to go that route or go through LMC where it is 269. i guess if you get it done at an exhaust shop it will be done in a day without sweating myself so i might as well do that.
