hey guys im anew guy here! and i was just woundering how hard it is to change the frame on a 1999 dodge 1500 with 5.9 gas and auto to a 2500 frame and a cummins? i know you'll prolly say "JUST GO AND BUY A 2500 WITH A CUMMINS", but i dont want to, i like my truck to much, the only thing i dont like is the gas motor, i only get 10-12 mpg with it.[:'(] and its a ext. cab, short box. and my dads got a ext. long box and he gets 16-18 with the cummins.

yeah ofcourse, not right away but do it over the winter, i want to collect all the parts then do it all at once liek in a week. i got most of the tools needed to do it, i live on a farm so i got LOTS of tools and machinery to help me, and also my dad.
Here's the easiest way to do it:
Find a 2500 of the same year that's been in a rollover accident. Then, just swap your cab and bed onto the rolled-over frame.
Voila. Done.

yeah thats what i was thinking of doin, but the problem that im thinkin of is the wiring, i've got a sport with the quad headlights, and i dont want to loose that. the thing in the wiring im also worring about is the grid heater. i was lookin at my wiring and it doesnt have that. so id have to find a diesel sport harness. the fuze box under the hood to under the dash. and also wondering if i'd have to change the gauge cluster?

You're going to have to change alot of things, not the least of which is the transmission, the exhaust, you're going to have to redo all your brake lines and crap to compensate for the extra length and frame, need longer drive shafts... it goes on and on. They're 2 completley different trucks. But you do have a sweet truck and I understand your desire to keep it so, with that in mind, your best bet is to get a donor truck exactly like what you're trying to make yours into and swap the parts off. Do a write up as you go along too because that is a really big project and when you're done with it i'm sure everyone could benefit from it.
you don't really need to swap to a 2500 frame...a 1500 frame will hand the cummins, but you'll need dana 60's or 70 axles...superhawk2002 did a cummins swap in his 1500..but he also but rockwells under it...look it up on pavementsucks...
