Default Smokey Start up

Ive noticed recently, everytime I start my truck when its DEAD cold it smokes for about 1 sec, and then its fine.
I know that would usally say that your valve seals are bad, but in this case I know that my plennum gasket is leaking.

Is it normal to have a smokey startup casued by a plenum gasket leak?
It doesnt have all the symptoms of leaking valve seals, becasue the truck can idle all damn day and when I gas it its clean as a whistle.

It doesnt worry me, nor doI really care if it smokes because it runs great, and I know for the most part the engine is fairly tight, I just think that if it is valve seals its a little early becasue the truck only has 85,000 miles.

What do yall think is casueing it... valve seals, or plennum gasket?

quick puff of smoke on start. i'd vote for rings or valve seals. whatever it is, is not really a problem, just a tid bit of oil burning off. just keep it checked and know your oil usage, if any.

Ya, maybe...

Im hopeing not just becasue it doesnt look good to smoke...

When I bought the truck (6 months ago, 20,000 miles ago) I did a test that normaly I wouldent do, but when I started the truck... I made sure that the engine was DEAD cold... I started it, had my dad stand looking at the exhasut and like pretty much right when it fired I gave it a quick rev to 4500 rpm or so... becasue if it was going to smoke... that would be the time that it would... and it dident have ANY...
I doubt its rings, just because my oil stays so clean in this thing... seriously after 1500 miles on an oil change, there isnt much more color to the oil than when I put it in, and at 3000 its not even close to black, so this engine is really tight still.

ahh.. im getting of on my talking tangents again... Well anyways thanks for everyones imput, I will be putting on a plennum kit within the next month or so.
