Default Question: Hazards

I don't know if this is the right place for this or if I should of put it in the FAQ section. But I just have a question that I hope someone here can answer for me. I recently bought a '94 ram 1500 and the hazards do not work. I need to get them to work because I'm taking my drivers test in it. My dad and I have been working on figuring it out. My dad checked some stuff out and figured out that all bulbs and fuses are good. So we thought it was the actual switch on the steering collum. So I spent $60 on a new turn signal/ hazard switch module (not sure if that's what you call it). We hooked it up and it turns out it's not the switch. Anyone ever have this problem? Or know what the problem is?

Almost forgot. Another question, but this one's short. The paint on the roof and hood of my truck is fading. I think the clear coat is bubbling or cracking. Is there anything i could use to restore my paint without getting a new paint job?

Thanks in advance.

when he checked the fuses did he check the relay for the flashers also. Do your turn signals work? In the fuse box there should be a round (most likely silver) relay for the flashers. check and/or replace that and see if that fixes it. hope this helps you.

yeah, he did check the relay. as a matter of fact i took the relay out of his truck and put it in mine and it didn't do anything so it's not the relay, fuses, bulbs or switch. guess i'm going to have to take it somewhere. thanks for the help though.

Dude my hazard switch is all sorts of screwed up and has been since I got my truck. I'm to lazy to fix it. With my hazard switch OFF no rear lights work. No brake lights, turn signals, or running lights. With my hazard switch ON brake lights work normal, turn signals work normal, and running lights work normal. So I have my hazard switch ON all the time so my brakes and such work haha

I have the exact same problem. The Hazard lights don't work at all, but if I turn the Hazard switch on and everything works like described above. I noticed that I can remove the "stop light" fuse under the hood and the stop lights still work (with the hazard switch turned on). Basically the hazard light circuitry has become the stop light circuitry.

This started happening after I plugged a seven prong trailer plug the wrong way (it was broken) and I smelled something burning inside the truck. I'm thinking the two wires got fused somewhere. The question is where? Any ideas on what is the most likely location of the fused wires? Is it under the fusebox by the engine? Or should I start looking under the steering column? Thanks.
