Default no bu5

I have a 2001 Ram 1500. Today my gauges all went dead and where my miles show it now shows "no bu5". I went to the local auto parts store and had him do a diagnostic on it. It passed with no codes. The truck runs fine but the gauges don't work and all the idiot lights are lit up. Does anyone have any idea's? I was hoping not to pay hours of labor for someone to check all my electrical wires and connections. Please help!!!

Thanks,
T.

OK I just picked up my truck from Sterling Heights Dodge today. They told me yesterday that when they started to search for the problem, it fixed itself. Yup! So they spent the whole day searching for any loose wires or connections and found nothing. Get this..... it cost me ZERO! They didn't charge me a penny and they even gave my truck a wash. So now everything is fine as of now. They even test drove it over bumps and railroad tracks and still it worked fine. I guess I will see how it goes.

Just an update.

I had the same problem on my 99. Only mine would cut out completley. However it would also 'fix itself'. It turned out to be the computer (located on the engine/passanger side of the firewall). The display that said "no bu5" actully means NO BUSE or no computer connetion buse is present. Mine finnally left me on the side of the highway. I took the term to mean, "no bus (Grayhound or otherwise) is going to pick you up from this mess".

I would check the three connection to the computer. Start the truck and wiggle the connection. This ususally (if there is a problem) will cause the truck to stop or pop up a "no bu5" on the display. Again it will rear its ugly head again and at the most inoportune time.

Mine turned out to be an internal connection in the computer (CPU). The dealer claimed that they fixed the problem. It turns out they just pushed the connection in good. The truck later shut off again. A few phone calls and tracing of part #'s showed that they originally did not change the computer or connection. They have now and I have not had a problem since.
