I'm going to install a trans temp guage because I'm about to get a travel trailer. The autometer web site say to weld a bung on the pan to mount the sending unit...but has anyone ever just put a tee on the trans cooler supply line? It seems like it would be easier and I don't see why it wouldn't work. Anyways, if anyone has some specific location that worked for them or any other tidbits of konwlege I'm all ears.

 

I put my sensorin the cooler linegoingintothe radiator. I would say either there or in the pan is the best place. Below is a link for the write-up I did when I installed mine. Plenty of pictures and lots of information, maybe more than you need.
