Transmission questions
i cut one of the hardlines and cut the fitted hose off the other and used transmission hose to complete my filter/cooler hookup. be sure and use transmission hose. its about $1/ft. double clamp for good measure. the hot side goes in the bottom of rad (no check valve) and the cool side goes in the top (check valve).

My check valve was in the hose that goes to the bottom of the cooler. Something just doesn't seem right here. The check valve was in the line that if you are facing the firewall from the front of the truck it was on the left line. It comes from the bottom of the cooler.
i was thinking the check valve was in the return line, and that it was attached to the top connector on the rad. i could be wrong. i went back and looked to see if i had any pictures of my stock setup, but don't. that was before i learned to take pictures before taking stuff apart. to make sure of what's what - can you start the truck and see which line pumps out fluid. (use a bucket). that's what i did.
Many will experience converter drainback and a delayed engagement by removing the one-way check valve.Just buy a new setup and replace it.The best thing you guys can do is install an aftermarket cooler if the truck doesn't already have an external one.
I swear that's the line that it was on. The flow (arrow) on it was pointing towards the transmission. And it was on the line coming out of the bottom of the cooler. I double checked and looked and it was on the bottom line. Were there certain years where this was flipped around? Or is my truck just messed up? I bought it two and a half years ago and all I have had to do to it besides maintainance was replace a u-joint in the front.
