Default Fuel pressure and fuel pumps

Iv been playing with the idea of getting an aftermarket fuel pump, mostly because Im planning some big trips this summer and I really dont want my fuel pump to die on the road, just incase. Im not going to go with a factory replacement, just like George S. Patton, I dont beileve in paying for the same real-estate twice. Id rather upgrade, not only for durabilitys sake, but so that it gives me more options for future mods. The question on hand is, does anyone run an aftermarket fuel pump and / or regulator, also what is the desired fuel pressure?

aeromotive has been good for me in the past, so im thinking of going with this one.

With stock pcm and injectors, you need 49psi. If you want to run an external pump, you'll either have to buy a kit or rig some kind or pick-up on a plate to fit where the old pump was. Some guys run a ford mustangin tankpump with a regulator. fords usually run 39.5psi, so the mustang must be an exception. If you go with ahigherpsi pumpwith a regulator, it will give you asome tuning capability with your injector flow.

is that 49psi in the lines? I remember reading someplace that it ran about 7-8psi at the injector?
