Default More Trans Issues

My 01 Ram 2500 DSL at low speed cycles back and fourth between overdrive and drive. I took it to the shop and had the run a diagnostic test. Here is what they came up with
1. Torque Converter Clutch Solenoid needs replaced
2. Transducer need replaced
and
3. bellcrank sensor need repaced.
all at the cost of $1500 dollars.

My first question is does this sound like the correct fix?
I'm hoping to save a little money and do it myself. I have farily good mechanicalknow how (I built and maintain my own race car)
Is this something i can do myself?
and What is the Transducer and what does it do?

Thanks for any help.

Default RE: More Trans Issues

The TCC solenoid almost never goes bad.The converter clutch will go first. When the gov pressure or gov transducer solenoids fail, you will usually experience 2nd gear starts. Are you sure it's not going in and out of lockup. There is a computer flash update for this shift hunt issue in many of the diesels from the dealer. You may want to try another dealership!!!
