Does anyone have any tips on removing a 5.9L out of a 95 ram 1500 4x4? I can't seem to get to the upper bellhousing bolts...argh! Thanks in advance.

Remove the Throttle body and maybe even the intake. Those bolts are a royal bitch to get. You can't get much throw turning a wrench on one, so bear in mind it will take a bit of grunting and swearing to remove them.

 

That was my next step, I was hoping I wouldn't have to do that. Oh well. Good thing I didn't finish putting the new engine together! Thanks. I was also thinking of trying to remove the plastic wheel wells. Maybe I could then reach the bolts...maybe not worth trying. BTW, how many bellhousing bolts are there on top?

I think there are four or five. You have to feel around in there blindly as you go around. I don't see how removing the inner wheel well panels would help.

 

as suggested, your best bet is to remove the intake manifold... it'll make your life alot easier. I had the same issue on a Jeep grand cherokee motor swap I did and after bitchin & moaning in 100 deg heat, yanked the intake in about 10 minutes and was at the bolts soon after. motor came right out after that.
