pulled the heads off my 97 -5.2.The gaskets did not show sings of coolent leeks.Where would I look for cracks.Any advice if heads need to be replaced.

 

look between the valve seats... you'll see a carbon trail like a thin black hair going between the valves. If they are cracked, Hughes has a set of heavy duty ones that when using the stock parts, are about $725 a pair. not toooo bad considering r/t's are over $1200...
