Default switching forums, or $3000 for a 95 CC 4x4 with a bad tranny?

Well I used to cruise just the first gen Ram and 2nd gen Dakota forums since I had one of each of those, but I gave my Ram to a friend for helping me finish installing kitchen cabinets and I'm selling the Dak so I can get something with a real bed and solid axle. I like the size of the Dak, but I wish the bed was 3-4" wider between the wheels, but whatever. Ideally I'd like to find a regular cab shortbed 4x4, but they're hard to come by in my area (shoot, I think there are 2 1500 v8 4x4's within 50 miles on autotrader for under $10k) so I'm open to an extended cab. I found one on craigslist for $3000 with a bad tranny, which doesn't scare me. You guys think that $3000 is a fair price for a truck that looks in decent shape but has no reverse? I'm going to work a half day tomorrow and pull my shorty headers out of the Dak so I can put them in whatever I buy.

$2500 would sound better.

If you look around alittle more you can surely find a great RAM that doesn't have a bad tranny. I did, and it was less than the 3 grand you're thinking about spending. Keep looking man, there are good ones out there that don't have big problems (yet!)

All of the other ones I've found locally have been $8k+

And a bad tranny to me isn't that big of a problem, pop a new tranny in and call it good.

Just don't put a stock tranny back in it if you're gonna spend the money you may as well get a bulletproof one.
