I have a 1995 Dodge Ram 2500, 6cyl 5.9L diesel with an automatic trans w/overdrive. I have had it for 3 years now and once 2 years ago, and just recently it has occasionally been slipping out of OD (I think). I will be driving and the buttion for turning OD off will light up and it will turn OD off by itself and flicker on, off, on, off, etc for a few minutes and then usually "fix itself". Could it be a loose connection, or do I need to take it in or??? Thanks.

sounds like you may have a temp sensor problem, on my 98 there's a thermistor, your year may be different. when the temp gets too high the computer locks out OD, then if it keeps rising lights up a trans temp light on the dash. your year may be different, but i'd look into the temp sensor or circuit. could also be the wires for the switch, or even the switch itself. definitely electrical though.
