Default something burning ??????

Igot out of my truck tonight andI smelled something burning.... at first i thought i had some oil burning somewhere then i remembered someone saying if it smelled sweet it might be antifreeze burning but i looked around the engine for leaks and i saw nothing the temp on the truck was normal ,but it felt extremely warn with the hood open i looked at the exhaust to make sure i had no fluids coming from there. where do i look next ? could it be a blown headgasket ?

Was the smell coming from under the hood and was it stronger when you opened the hood? You mentioned hearing about sweet smell but did it smell sweet?

yeah it smelled sweet but it was seriously strong when i opened my door to get out of the truck i came in for about 5 minutes because i was trying to
get stuff done then i decided to go out and have a look... so the smell wasn't as stong when i opened the hood but it was really sweet when i first got home.

Sounds like a hole in a hose somewhere. Open the hood, run the truck to temp and watch it. You will probably see a leak somewhere. Mine had a leak on the hose behind the water pump and on the water pump bypass tube. Very hard to find, but when fixed, all was better.

Checked the coolant levelto see if it's a small or large leak? I've seen small leaks make big smells because of spraying on hot engine/exhaust manifold, and no drips because it disipates to steam from the heat (hence the strong sweet smell).

your heater core might be going i smelled a sweet smell when mine was first going, then it started to leak fluids into the cab. If it starts to leak into the cab, do a heater core bypass until you get it fixed, that way your not breathing the stuff in. Mine also started to smoke out of the vents before it was totaly done and gone.
