Default 46re help

My tranny keeps jumping out of od when I let off of the throttle but goes right back in when I get on it again until it warms up, then it looses od all together. Also there is a steady whine coming from the area around the converter. It started in reverse under load and gets progressively worse. I dropped the pan for a fluid change and the filter looked as if to have been collapsed. A few of my buddies tell me to change the converter to help with the whine but nobody here seems to have any ideas about the od problem. If anybody out there has a clue I would appeciate the help. Thanks Rod

Pull the filter apart and see whats in it.If it's a later model with the plastic/metal style, break the plastic open, then pull the filter element apart.A restricted filter will also cause a whine. If it's full of junk, you'll have to find the source of it.You may have internal issues.

Filter got thrown out. Now it stalls the engine at idle and slips real bad when put in gear. HELP!

The torque converter is locked up causing your stalling, but on your O/D problem the lip seal on the overdrive piston may not be holding any fluid pressure to apply the piston, Leaking.

Trans cooler may also be plugged. This can cause noise and also converter clutch engagement. Trans should probably come apart for inspection.
