Default idk if this is stupid or not...
if i were to gut my cat so it was nothing but straight through, would that cause emision problems or should i say when i go to emisions would that make me fail?

It depends on where you live andhow they test. I was told that here (Va) they do a visual to make surethat there is a cat, andlook for a check engine light, so a gutted cat and ao2simm would pass.

i live in illinoisbut not totally sure wat the emission laws are... so ur saying most likly if i were to gut it, throw a simm in there it would be fine..

out here in california i have only had visual inspections. my brother has been running his f-350 with a gutted cat for years now. no problems.

If it were me, I would try to find out for sure before I did anything. In Va, the inspections don't seem that stringent, but, if you do get caught the fines are pretty steep.

hey echseman i know the emissions laws in cali are redic so im guessing i would be away with it but ill check for sure.. but does ur brother have a simm on his or does the computer just not know?

Illinois plugs into yourcomputer so you would need an O2 simm to pass.

oh k then thanks for that, good to know.. i gotta do it soon anyway so ill go then be able to have 2 years to get a simm
