What would you guys recommend as far an inexpesive yet decent cb radio? A couple buddies and I all have trucks so we thought it'd be a fun thing to get CBs and talk over the airways. Well, I don't have much of an idea about them but I went to Walmart and picked up the Cobra 19 III for $35. Also bought a magnet mount antennae at a local truck stop. So, any ideas would be cool, I figure others may would like to know as well..

Right now the best cb radio for the money you can get is a Cobra 29LTD, get that and a K30 or 40 magnet mount and you will be good to go. Find a local CB shop and have that 29 peaked and tuned along with a k40 and you will be good for 8-10 mile range on a good day.

 

the $35 walmart cobra is a good choice. 2 of my buddies have them and they work as good if not better that $100+ cobra 29's. a magentic mount is ok, as long as its a really strong magnet and its not falling off all the time. be aware the antenna must be grounded to the truck body to work right, and if you have a bed liner, or rubber gasket under the tool box then that becomes a bad mounting place unless you use a ground strap. the wilson is a really good magnetic mount and the firestick is a good 2-3-4 stick mount. consider a spring under a stick mount for going under trees, garage doors, etc.
