Default Procomp vs. BFG

I got no responses in the W&T section, so I'm going to post here.

Two tires I'm looking at:
Procomp Xtreme Muds vs. BFG Muds

They will be 35 x 12.5 R 15 on my 98 Ram 1500 4X4. Which would you choose? Anyone know the weights of each one? Rolling resistance?

no personal experience here, but
the bfg's appear to have a little bigger side lugs
both look like good mud tires
both will probably roar like a bitch.
being mud tires they are probably a little soft, so they won't be long lasting 80,000 mile tires, maybe not even 40.
and then my favorite rule of thumb.. which are cheaper ?

Price is only $3 difference per tire. Both are 3-ply sidewall. I'm mostly looking for a good looking mud-tire that doesn't do too bad on the road either and doesn't weigh 80# a tire like the 8-10 ply massive M/T do.

Oh, and do you guys think a 35x12.5 will work on a 15x8 rim, or should I go up to the 15x10?

it prob bulg a lil bit. my old co-worker has 36s on his 97 F250 and hes at 30K and they still got 1/3 life left but he takes them off in the winter and throws some studded snows on. i havent heard anything really bad about both the pro comp might be a lil quiter cuz of the smaller side lugs but either way its suppose to sling mud

Are you sure you can fit a 15" rim on a 98 Ram 1500?

I had the regular 315/75R16 ProComp M/T's on my Ram, and I liked them alot. They are cheaper than the BFG M/T's. I paid about $310 (cdn) per tire. In the States (compared to Canada) they are much cheaper for some reason....

I can say the Procomp Xtreme MT's are a very nice tire. I am running them on my truck in a 37/12.50/17 size and they run great on road and off. On the streets they are surprisingly quiet and seem to be wearing very well. They balanced great (which can be a tricky thing with large tires) and offer a smooth ride. Off road they do very good in everything I have thrown at them. They perform especially well in rocks and loose dirt trails and while I only got to run them on the street once in snow/ice, they seem to do very good for a MT.

I have had BFG MT's before too, and I really like the Pro Comp Extreme MT's over any BFG MT I have ever had, but the BFG's are not a bad tire.

I will also say that while the Procomp Xtreme MT's are great and I prefer them over the BFG's, the standard Procomp Mud Terrains suck *****, so it's nice that they made a huge improvement in their MT offering.

Procomps are good, I know a few people who ran them on their wheeling rigs. They do seem to wear kinda quick though, they're really soft imo.
