i wouldn't mess with a stock unit at all. you can get cd, mp3, satellite, aux, rca's, hi power or low, etc for $50 - $200 at best buy or ebay. here's my very simple single cd, mp3. pioneer DEH-2800-MP. you can buy them used on ebay for $50. get the wiring adapter and dash kit for a nice clean painless install.

pic installed w/dash trim off. black surround is the dash kit.

i did the same thing swapped out the stock take for a stock cd player, i hate aftermarket crap in my truck, i think it looks tacky in most cases, not to mention i dont need some retard smashing out my trucks window to steal my cd player.

I'm not big on aftermarket radios either but the Chrysler stockers are crap. I got 3, a tape deck and cd player, both cd players are slow to read the cds when either first starting the disc or when track searching.
I just bought a Kenwood here. http://www.hookedontronics.com/show_....jsp?cid=47074

To me it's only crap cause the ones I have don't work right [:@]. I'd keep it but it's sometimes it dosen't track. Heck I listen to AM talk radio so I 'm not changing for sound reasons.
