fitting a sport bumper on my 95 SLT 2500
Hey, guys.. I just bought a 95 dodge cumming diesel 2500 2WD. And I really like the sport bumper on the sport model. I can get the front bumper for pretty good price, but what the else would I need to install on my truck? And I'm looking to lift get a 3inch lift on the truck, which kit would you guys recommend? Any tips, or recommendation will be great. thanks!!
It depends on whether or not you can get the sport bumper with the attached frame or if its just the shell. If you can get it all one piece, it should just bolt right up (I think 3 bolts on each frame rail). Be warned, the sport bumper doesn't have access for tow hooks unless you can find one from an off-road model. But, you can do like I and most everyone else in here that bought a normal sport modeland buy the factory tow hooks and notch the bumper so they fit.
Hey thanks, RamMan4x4, so you installed a sport bumper on your ram too? So, what did you have to do, I don't think I got the price quote with the attached frame. I need to find out, do you have any pics? thanks
Well I actually bought a '99 1500 4x4 Sport, but it didn't have the off-road package that came with a pre-notched front bumper and factory tow hooks. I bought the tow hooks and brackets on ebay (turned out to be a dodge dealership in another state), pulled my bumper off and notched it for tow hook clearance. I have pictures on my computer at home, I'll upload them later tonight.
For your truck, in 95 they didn't offer the same style sport bumpers as mine. During your year, it was identical to the chrome or gray bumper only it was painted to match the truck. For '99 and '00 (possibly other years) they offered a full poly bumper that has a hidden metal frame. This is why I asked if it came with the metal frame...I want to make sure you don't just buy the shell if you get a newer sport bumper. One of the newer bumpers should bolt right up to your truck but you will want to do a good comparison to make sure as I haven't tried exactly what you are doing. Just make sure you get the a complete unit including the frame. Again, I'll post pictures later for better clarification.

Yea, but I couldn't remember if the standard bumper had one as well....it's not a very big dip but he may want to look for a newer sport grille as well. Of course this all depends on which sport bumper he is refering to.
Umm.. I'm not sure, that's why I'm trying to get some tips on the conversion, does this mean I need to get the front grill as well? thanks
