RE: Major Decision, Please help, Auto to 5 Speed...feasible?
Thanks for the offer Indy, but as much as I love my truck is howmuch I hate that 46.
I got all the bushings, bearings, parts cleaner, rags blah blah blah lined up.
Waking up tomorrow early and getting on it.
Lucky too my local shop let me bring home their tranny jack, will make life much easier than my other plan.

well pretty much a straightforward removal except for the fact I'm doing it myself, makes it kind of a pain.
The thing is now the clutch and all mating surfaces are clean, ready to go in.
Because this is an auto, I have to change out the pedal cluster, think I'll do that now so all the cables and hydraulic reservoir lines are in place waiting for the 3500.
Plus made that hole in the floor for the tower, I went to the donor truck, made the template going from passenger side floor to where it starts curving up to driver side floor so the hole up top will be as centered as possible, if anything might be off by 1/4 inch total.....I can live with that. Exact adjustments for the 3500 itself can be made when it's in place, if they are necessary.
Coolant lines are removed and harnesses are out of the way.
My only issue now is that I have a rear mounting plate for the crossmember for a 46RE and the one for a 3500 looks different. I'll take a look at specs for height issue between the 2, I don't want the drivershaft to be misaligned.
Well thats it for a water break, back to the barn.
Oh yea, doing my best on this narrative cause those pictures are a NO-GO, don't have the set-up for that stuff.

I think you would need the PCM out of the donor truck too.

Ok pedal cluster, quite the pain but pretty straightforward, remove throttle cable off accelerator, brake pedal connection, remove bolts and gently fight to get the whole damn thing out.
Then pedal cluster in.
Fun part will be lifting the tranny onto the jack and hope I have clearance to slide it under, if not I'll build a 2x4 A-Frame put it inside the truck over the hole for the shifter, slide the tranny under there, put a ratchet strap around it and back to the A-Frame, lift it enough to get the tranny jack under then finish the job that way.

Hey I couldn't find anything on that rear plate for the cross-member. It's different for a 46RE than for a 3500, can someone look up if I can still go with the 46RE's or do I need the 3500 plate.
I'm concerned the holes might not line up to the tranny (we can take care of that) or the height would be off (rather not mess with that and get a proper replacement).
Thanx
