Default Exhaust System baby....

Well since I have finally have the truck, I can do my favorite part, get a mean exhaust system. As it stands now, my truck has a Single Inlet, Dual Outlet Flowmaster Original 40 series muffler that exits out each side of the reese hitch with magnaflow tips. It sounds really good, but as usual, I just need to go meaner and louder! The piping is all crusty under there and the tips have seen their better days! Anyways, I already started by buying 2 Magnaflow tips. They are beasts. They are 22" long, and are 4" thick all the way through with an aggressive slantcut made of stainless steel. They will look badass! Im also changing the exhaust set-up and changing it to a dual split rear behind each tire, I just love that look, so custom. Anyways, I have been contemplating going Magnaflow. I need a new noise. My brother has a true dual with Flowmaster Super 44 mufflers on his truck, and this one has a flowmaster, so im getitng too used to the noise. I called Magnaflow, and he said his baddest muffler was a 5x8x14. So i plan to use this muffler. Im also going to buy magnaflows high flow cats, so she'll be a nice magnaflow system straight through. I wanted to do a true dual from the manifolds like my brother has on his f-350, but everyone keeps discouraging me to do so. They think it will be too loud and set the computer off. My bro has a 95, so the computer never was effected. They also said i'll lose low end torque if i do a true dual. So i guess ill have to stick with just one muffler, either way it should be badass! What do you guys think? Anyone had any experience with magnaflow's muffler, are they baddass like Flowmaster??

Magnaflows are definately better than the Flowmaster 40. I have the 40s on my truck and I'm getting sick of them. I had some clips of the Magnaflows, but I'll have to look. My next muffler will definately be the Magnaflows or those Hookers that were posted under 2nd Gen Dakotas.

Lol yes. Firstly exhaust is my passion lol, so it needs to be done right in every which way for me. Secondly, the existing exhaust system is extremely rusty and could easily be punctured through with a small tapping of a hammer, so it needs to go anyway for inspection. Im glad its rusty though, it's giving me a legit reason to yank the exisiting exhaust system out. I am cleaning this puppy right out. The previous owner did an OK job at maintaining the truck, but im finding a lot of odds and end **** that need to be addressed (loose door hinges, messed up hood hinging, non waxed exterior). Everoyne initially thinks the truck is AMAZING, but then when u can sit there and look for ****, you can see it, so im def. going to take care of this puppy and get it back up to my standards like i had my neon lol. I love keeping things shiny, clean, loud, and powerful, so im thinkin this is what im going to first attack! Cant Wait to finish buying the exhaust parts soon. I think after that, I am going to invest in getting it rust proofed and then undercoated.

One of the best sounding (and cheapest) exhaust systems I heard on a ram had a custom 2 1/4" cat back with a Y-pipe off the cat that ran to 2 Cherry bombs (glass pack resonators) then to I think 4" boom tube megaphones just under rear bumper.

Simple and sounded mean (IMHO)

I just bought a 99 Ram 1500, ext. cab, 5.2, 2WD. I noticed it had dual 4" chrome tips coming straight out the back. I wasn't too sure what had been done, but I noticed everything looked new and IT WAS LOUD!!! Annoyingly loud!!! I looked underneath and there was no muffler at all. It sounded good, just loud.

I took it straight to the muffler shop and had the guy put in a muffler for me. He put in a Magnaflow 2 1/2" single-in, dual-out. I'm not sure of the size, but it sounds really good now. He said it sounds like someone also punched out the inside of the cat.

If you want, I'll go out tomorrow and take some video and post it for you so you can hear it.
