Default Help with ID on fuze box relay

In the fuze box, above the buzzer box, there is a silver cylenderical relay. what is that?
Im installing my oil guage and testing everything, my truck would start, it would start, it would start, and then, the fourth time it wouldnt. I looked in the fuze box, which is where i have the power wire for the guage, to see if any fuze is broken. Nothing was broken, but this cylender was hot as a stove, so i figgured that it may be broken and the culpurate.

Everything works except for the motor turning over. Is it possibly that since i disconnected the oil guage that its not starting cuz of low oil readings?

thats not a relay its a flasher, it will be the flasher for ither your siglal lights or hazard lights. it wouldent make the truck not start unless something behind like a wire going to it got hot enough to melt something else, dont know why it would get that hot thow a fuse should have poped before enough power went through to heat it up that much, did you check the fuses in the PDC as well as the junction box, when im having problems like this i like to pull every fuse out one by one and test it with a multimetter for continuety ive had some fuses that looked fine but dident have any coninuaty, replaced them and problem fixed.

i doubt that its not starting because of the oil gauge being disconected, at worst it would throw a CEL or code, or idiot light i think

I'm not too sure about dodge motors as I am new to them but from working on german cars for many years, specifically mercedes, I know that if the oil pressure sender is not connected the motor thinks it has no oil pressure and will not start to prevent damage to the motor.

it was something called a time relay but that wasnt the problem. the ignition run relay blew.
