I currently have a 5.2L V8 in my 99 ram 1500. The engine is getting old becuase i beat it up. If I want more power, what size should I get next?

 

I would say that it first depends onhow deep your pockets are, do you want to build your 318? go with a 360? or go wild???

 

well i dont have that much money, but i can save up. what do you mean 318 or 360. sorry im dont know that much lingo

 

5.2L = 318 and 5.9L = 360

If it were me, i'd get the bigger motor. I cant afford to build one up so if i could get a 360 for the same price as the 318, i'd get the 360. thats what i have in my truck (stock) and love it. Never drove with the 318 so cant comment on that for sure. Biggers better right.....At least thats what she said..lol..

 

originally I would say go bigger, but after reading a post the other day and hearing the response of indyram ( think I'm butchering his name) you could beef up that motor for a pretty decent price.

Keep the 5.2poke it and stroke it to a 402. You'll get up to 450hp/500ft Torque. But if its a daily driver, just rebuild the 5.2 and clean it up with a little performance add on here and there.. But that's me.
