Ok so I need to replace tires and I was wondering first of all can i fit 285/75/16's on my STOCK 95 dodge ram 4x4 Laramie SLT? and will my truck be sluggish????? thanks for any info.

 

Yes you can put those on i have those on mine. The only thing i dont like is they rub a little bit like when u make real sharp turns

 

ok cool, but i mean do you really notice it when turning hard?? ive never put real big tires on a truck before, only 31's on my 4x4 ranger before i got rid of it. hows the power? i got the 5.2L 318V8.

 

I have them on my 97 4x4, and mine rub at full lock, but you train yourself quickly how sharp you can turn. I bought the truck with LT285/75/16's so I cant say if it's anymore sluggish with larger tires on it, but I would assume it's a noticeable gearing change. I've driven other 360 Rams with the much lighter P265/75/16's on them and they seem much more responsive. I've actually been thinking about getting a set of P265/75/16's to throw on in the summer months, something with a highway/touring tread pattern. The weight difference between my LT285/75/16 BFG T/A KO's and P265/75/16 Tracker 2's is probably 15-20 lbs. per tire.

 

Im running those same size tires on my '99 and I have no wheel rub even at full lock. There is a slight power loss with the bigger tires and factory gearing in the rear diff. Also it seems that the shift points are a bit off. Going up steep hills the truck will kick down to a lower gear and seem to hang there longer before upshifting to the next gear / shifting back into overdrive. If your going with those size tires I would think about a gearing change for the rear to compensate. Plus remember, bigger tires means your speedometer will be lower by about 5 mph than what you would normally read with the recommended tire size.

 

I have 285/75/16s on mine and they fit just fine. and the truck doens't seem sluggish at all.
