Default disc brake dragging

The front right brake is not releasing completely so I took the caliper off and am wondering if the rubber seal around the piston is removable and replaceable. I want to take the seal off to clean and lube the piston shaft, but I need to know ifthe sealcan be removed without damaging it. Is there a certain lube/oil to use? Am I right in thinking this is my problem? Thanx.

you will need to order a rebuilt kit for the caliper. I would get a rebuilt caliper ($89 at Napa), but check your brake hose also for damage. My passenger side was bad and did not released the caliper. I replaced both in my truck, the dust seal was bad and the piston was badly damaged in the caliper, I got the hose at Advanced auto for $34. Good luck.

If you're gettting parts from AutoZone, I'd replace all of those first. I had some dragging and it was the DuraCrap pads.

i replaced my driver's side caliper a few months ago. i don't know if it was a computer error or what, but a new caliper was only $18 with a $20 core charge(wich is refunded when old part is returned for rebuilding). that was at autozone in Moorpark, Ca.
