I am leaning toward transmission.

I also bet TQ converter, or the tranny itself is actually shot.
Please don't guess about the torque converter. While that does sound like the probable cause here, you may want to have a specialist take a look 1st to make sure. These things are too expensive to possibly NOT have that be the problem. Too many times we're quick to throw money at things before KNOWING what the real problem is.
If it is in fact the TC, it isn't that hard to replace; just the labor alone will save you a bunch of money.

Diagnosing stuff over the internet is sometimes dicey at best...
Smell the tranny fluid, if it smalls like burnt toast, or similar, your tranny overheated. Death was quick.
Problem...if it is the TC, you ran a whole bunch of crap through your tranny, or plugged your filter, oveheating the clutch packs...
I'd plan on having the whole thing gone through, since you have to pull it to change the T/C. Mine was 1800 bucks...runs like a champ!

Well thanks for the help. I have a good feeling its not engine related... but I figure that if it is the t-converter or trans... there gonna both have to be done anyway. I just wasnt ready to fork over that kind of cash. oh well...
Thanks again,

I've destroyed so many Mopar driveline pieces...almost forgot about this one.
I had a pinion bearing self destruct in an old Dodge van with a 9.25 rear, locking up the axle. In the process( and a fit of rage[
][&o])of trying to move said van, I blew the main planetary apart in the tranny. The pinion will be easy to spot. Lots of gear oil, and lots of play at the end of the drive shaft. Easier to check in neutral.
