Default Extra starter bolt ?

I hope I am posting in the correct area, But here is my question.

Hi,

On a 1500 series, 4WD, with a 360 V8. There are two bolts that hold the starter on. (One stud, one bolt). Is there another bolt near the upper bolt for the starter? The reason why I ask, is my Son in Law and is friend where trying to change the starter. And they had problems with loosing the upper bolt. But they claimed the already pulled a bolt out.

I was able to help him reinstall the starter, but I cannot see where that other bolt went. It is about 2" long and has a 5/8" hex head on it.
Any ideas where they might have pull that bolt from?

My diagram shows only the stud/nut near the bottom and the bolt near the top:

Is it possible the extra bolt is a tranny bolt?

Thank you.

That is whatI am trying to find out. Where they pulled that bolt from. It is about 2" long and has a 5/8" hex head on it. I came in to the project when they all ready had this bolt out

Looking at the picture,I do not see a bolt in that area, But they may not have include that in the picture.

Yep, coming in near the end of a project is always fun, and having parts left over makes it challenging!

Speaking of the devil, just about this time last year. Look at this picture I took while doing my starter removal.

I don't know what the that bolt is actually used for, probably like you guessed, the trans or something.
