rust already????????
Hey guys.....i have a 2000 ram quad cab truck and i already have rust around the wheel wells and on the bottom.......you guys know if dodge will do anything about this or not????? I heard that the paint is warranted for 6 years but dont know for sure.....if anyone could help i would be thankful!!!!!!
They had a TSB (technical service bulletin) out last year about the bottoms of doors rusting out. Apparently the drain holes did not get stamped all the way thru, which caused water to get trapped in the doors and rust them from the inside out. Take it to your dealer, you never know, it may be covered. I seem to remember it had to have less than 100,000 miles on it or something like that. There were some limitations as to what it would cover.
dodgegirl....i am the second owner of the truck...so i called dodge and they said just try taking it to the dealer and see what they say....so i will give it a try.I am wondering if i should give them a stink about it if they say no?????what do you guys think?
I think you'll have a hard time getting them to warranty it. If you were the original owner it'd be easier. But who is to say the truck hasn't be wrecked before? It's worth a shot though, les us know what happens.

In my experiences, which are fairly broad, the higher up the dcx corporate ladder to bitch, and the angrier you are, the better the chances of them doing something. if you want to PM me with your VIN and current mileage, ill check and see where you stand warranty wise.
When I first bought my 95 it was 4 years old and I was the third owner. It had rust on the lower part of the doors. I took it straight to a dealer and with no question they warrantied it. The rust warranty is like 8 years/ 100,000 miles (something like that) and it goes with the vehicle until the time or mileage lapses.
