Also the sport 5.9 motor is rated 5 more horses the a regular ram 5.9 in 2000 atleast.
must be the stickers that give it the extra hp. lol.
i took the dodge sticker off my tailgate. i hope i didn't lose 3 hp. lol more.
If you go by what RamMan just said you just lost 5 hp. thats 10 less then the sport. Hope you didn't debadge the truck cause then your really losing the hp...lol...

ok.. im new to rams in general. Just bought a 98 ram sport ex cab and im wondering what the differences are in this truck and a regular ram? by reading the posts here and looking at parts, i see that some things are not the same such as the grille etc.. anyone wanna take a few mins and educate a newbie?

No one has paid attention to notice he said 98 ram. The 98 is different thatn 99-01s. The 98 has single headlight bulbs, a painted from bumber with separte bolted/screwed on air dam. Not a whole lot of difference between the 98 Sports and regular rams except some painted items and the decals. The sport has nothing to do with gearing either. I have an 01 4x4 Sport with tow package and 3.55 gears.

In the begining the Sport was a limited production of 2000 trucks for 1994. But they where very popular so they kept making them. I brought my 94 sport back in 94 I still have the orignal Dodge sales brouches for the Sports. I'll pull it out when I get home and read threw it again. Haven't looked at in in years. I'll let ya'll know what is say's.

Soo.. as far as i can tell, most of the changes on my 98 are just cosmetic. The big changes didnt come till about 99? If you can believe this, i called my local dealer parts dept. and they said "uhhh.. we just order parts by number. not really sure of the differences" ... figures. Thanks for all the help guys, ill try and contribute when i have something interesting to add.
