well the sport is just a appearance package. It comes with a painted grill and bumpers. There is no separate air dam on the front it is one solid piece. If you are planning on getting a grill guard or adding tow hooks to the front this can be a problem. Other than looks there isn't much of a difference. I have a 2001 and that is all that is different. If there is anything else someone please chim in.

My '99 sport came with 3.92 differential ratios but this may have been an option available to any ram. I would like to say, adding front tow hooks to a sport only requires notching the fiberglass bumper. It's more difficult than a std ram but not by much.

Edit: you can check your diff ratio from the sticker that is attached to the underside of the hood (pop the hood and look up).

i don't think sport provided a gear change. 3.92 was just an option, most likely combined with tow package (gear, trans cooler, etc)
i think sport also has dual headlights. non-sport has singles.

also, the sport package had colord match tail lights and obviously the sport stickers. Also the sport 5.9 motor is rated 5 more horses the a regular ram 5.9 in 2000 atleast...there really isn't much more of a difference....same height and stuff

My 01 has the tow package but still has the 3.55 gears, those will be changed out once I conquer the world and have more money. I forgot to mention the headlights thanks dhvaughan. I never heard about the extra hp before for the 5.9s.

I believe that the headlights in a sport are quad beams and have four light bulbs whereas the normal rams only have two light bulbs.
