Default Oil Pressure?

Hello all!! I have a 98 with a v10. I have a small issue with my oil pressure. When youfirst start the truck (when truck is cold ) it has 40+ oil press. When the truck hits about 120-130 deg. the pressure drops right to 0 and i get that lovely idiot light, and the lifters start to knock. If you wait 10-15 min you can start it back up and the pressure is back up to 40+ psi. But with in 5 min. it drops right to 0 again. it's almost like theres a switch for the oil pump, one sec its on the next its off. Anyone else have a problem like this?

i know this sounds stupid, but the last 3 or 4 people that have posted this problem have come back later and said, oops - it was low on oil. so check it. after that you may need a new sending unit, or you might be getting a collapsed filter or clogged up oil pickup screen. i don't know where the sending unit is on the v10.

Well I found it to be a bad oil filter. Changed the oil and filter and now the problem is gone. Yippie! Thanx for the speedy reply. After a year of sitting its good to be back in the truck. Well eccept for the gas prices.
