Default 02 sim questions

Time's come to finally gut the cat, plan is to go with a fastman 02 sim... had a couple questions...

somebody told me the simms don't always work on the later 2nd gen models, supposedly something about an upgraded computer that can't be fooled, and mine is an 01, has anyone else hear or experienced this or is my buddy feeding me a line of bull?

and then is the install as straight forward as it says on fastmans website, basically just splice 4 wires together and ready to roll?

Thanks guys, just wanting to make sure I'm going the right way about doing this

fastman speaks the truth.
but... the sim replaces the rear (post-cat) o2. some people have gutted cat and not gotten a cel, and not needed an o2 sim. others have needed it. you might try it without first and see what happens. might save a few bucks.
