Well the paint on my Indy is starting to fade away , crack, chip, and everything else and the body well thats a different story. The previous owner liked to hit small things here and there so I went and picked up some bondo. I am going to be smoothing out the body, taking the stripes and paint off and then painting it.

I am going cheap.

I am either doing flat black spray can.
Prepping the body and then getting a cheap paint job (gloss black or like a gunmetal grey)
If I redo the stock blue with white strips it will not be for another year or two because I don't want to spend that much on the paint right now.

So pick one for me. I think the flat black would look nasty but thats just me.

I don't think flat black would look that good on a newer truck, just my opinion.

I do like teh look of flat black, but like Socha62 said, im not sure it would look good on a new truck. i would say save your pennies and get the original blue w/ white strips done again. Dont go to cheap or you'll just be doing it again.

Hmmm, I think I might do all the prep work myself and go to Maaco, the only reason bad things come from them is because they don't do prep work. If I do it all myself the original blue shouldn't be expensive, I would get the most expensive paint job they have, also the white stripes are just decals they aren't actually painted on.

I didn't realize that the white strips were decals. are you capable of doing them yourself (with a friend)? If so, you should be able to just do what you were thinking of. And maaco does do prep. maybe just not that great of a job, but they do do it. Make sure you look at some of there work tho. i have heard good and bad about maaco. Never used them myself tho.

A kid at school had his chevy painted by them he said as long as you do the prep work yourself then you are all set, if you let them do it you're screwed.

I work at maaco in ohio . But yes if you come in and get a$250 paint job we dont do much to it. But if you spend the money they will prep it good . So if I was you I would get it ready yourself if the paint is cracked and pealing you need to strip itthen get some etching primer for the bare metal . Then I would take it there and get the work done if they strip it it will be about $600 - $750 to strip it plus the paint job. They start off at $250
