best spark plugs?
I am in favor of spending the extra 30 minutes or so to index sparkplugs.
Since the 5.2/5.9 V8 are retarded about 12 degrees from the
"Best Torque" ignition setting
{from an official 1998 Jeep press release}
so they can run on 87 octane
indexing the plugs,
increasing the gap,
can give slight gains in both torque
and fuel economy.
You can usually run without pinging at the same octane gasoline
except in the hotest and driest weather, where switching to 92 octane becomes necessary.
My experience is that just buying extra plugs works better than the copper washers.
I believe that finding the spot where the ground electrode is over against the wall but the open gap points toward the exhaust valve is the best index of the plug on Magnum V8s.
