smoke on start
so recently my truck is acting weird when i start it. it dosnt always do it, but like prob 2-3 times a week when i start my truck it blows out a big white cloud of smoke aka burned oil, does this mean my plenum gasket is blown? or something bigger?
i don't think start up smoke is an indication of plenum. its just burn off of oil in the cylinder. i'd guess a little oil slipping by the rubber valve seals. if its only a puff at startup and the oil usage is not too high to keep track of i wouldn't worry about it. just keep the oil level full and drive on.
its a puff sometimes, other times it makes a decent cloud, or it wont puff but the first time i accelerate it puffs a little smoke. its weird when it does it, its not like every time it starts just randomly it seems, ive been trying to figure out the pattern or reasons why but i have no idea lol. figured it was just burn off, my old gmc did the same thing. i went through a quart and a half in like a month sense my last oil change. Does that sound like just burn off? or something else?
A quick puff is usually something with the valve seals, as said above..Next oil change (if you do them yourself) substitute a quart of oil for a quart of Marvel Mystery Oil.
idk why i didnt think of this befor, it could be some left over sea foam in the oil, i changed the oil after i let the sea foam run for a while but im sure theres still some left in there.

its a greyish/blueish, Im gonna go with seafoam burn off lol, when i was draining the seafoam it was just running off clear liquid for like 10 minutes and was still going, i was in a rush so i just put the plug back in so im sure theres still seafoam in there. We will see what happens at the next oil change.
Take it out and really gun the engine a few times. That'll clear it out.
Wouldn't MMO make a leak worse? I always thought you used MMO to get rid of sludge and deposits. I would think you'd want to use something like Restore to recondition the seals.
